Progettoborca joined the virtuous examples of European regional cooperation, studied by OpenHeritage.
OpenHeritage – Organising, Promoting and ENabling HEritage Reuse through Inclusion, Technology, Access, Governance and Empowerment is a research project funded by the European research and innovation programme Horizon 2020 (grant agreement no. 776766).
OpenHeritage aim is to define an innovative model of cultural heritage governance and management, supporting community-driven adaptive reuse processes.
Going beyond the exclusive recognition of historical and artistic values, the project is grounded on the interpretation of heritage as a common good.
To foster more just perspective of development, OpenHeritage thus identify transformative mechanisms that generate social, economic and territorial benefits.

Federica Fava is member of research team of Roma Tre University, one of the OpenHeritage partner.

Dolomiti contemporanee is one of five projects that have been selected for the first edition of ideas – italian dialogues on excellence, arts and science, an initiative from the Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Five sectors, five protagonists, five stories to portray a dynamic, creative and resilient Italy.

The webseries, available at the www.ideasitaly.com website, is composed of five documentary-portraits dedicared to different creative and productive sectors. Its objective: to depict stories, facets and experiences of Italy’s most innovative, virtuous and dynamic aspects to an international public.

The project aims to reflect on the leading themes of contemporary debates, specifically looking at the great ethical challenges of the future: environment, innovation, common goods – all issues today’s Italy has a lot to say about. Each story points the spotlight on Italy’s vast resources when it comes to manufacturing, culture, tourism, and the environment.

Five ideas, all emblematic in their creative, success-oriented and innovative drive to present the excellence of the contemporary Italian scene to a global audience.

In the video, Gianluca D’Incà Levis speaks about the vision and approach which characterise DC in its relationship with the themes of cultural responsibility and the regeneration of heritage and landscape, through contemporary art and the experimental hubs activated inside large, crucial sites which must be reconsidered and given new function: among them are the former Eni Village of Corte di Cadore, the Vajont area, the Italia Ski Jump of Cortina d’Ampezzo, linked to the Milan-Cortina Olympics of 2026.

On Wednesday November 18th, 2020, Dolomiti Contemporanee takes part in the online conference promoted by the Courmayeur Mont Blanc Foundation alpi partecipate. montagne in mostra (Participated alps. Mountains on display).

The speech by G. D’incà Levis, ideator and curator of dolomiti contemporanee, is titled Dolomiti Contemporanee, a creative reactivation strategy for heritage and territories.
the meeting is set for 5:30 PM on wednesday november 18th.

The conference focuses on the mountain environment as a place of cultural involvement. the workshop-like nature of the alps eases the cultural approaches of modernity, and the conference, with a new formula, designed to be enjoyed at a distance, proposes a few examples of them.

Three meetings spread out over three different evenings exploring, respectively, the regenerative actions of artistic installations and temporary exhibits in some symbolic locations inside the Dolomites, a cultural device meant for the civic participation inside a huge fort in the alto adige area and a contemporary art museum at the heart of the grisons.

They are places found in the alpine region, and they are characterised by a strong identity ‒ despite their location relative to major cities ‒ in which architecture takes on the role of an important instrument, useful to create a debate.

The widespread perception, during this complex period of human history, is that the mountain is a safe place from a health standpoint, as it allows for easy distancing.

A different audience ‒ typically used to frequenting other destinations ‒ and demanding from a cultural point of view as well, could then look at the alps as a way to search for new stimulation and enrichment.

On Tuesday, March 14th 2017, Dolomiti Contemporanee has received a Mention from MiBACT, following its participation in the call for Eurupean Council Landscape Award with DC/Progettoborca.

In December 2016, Dolomiti Contemporanee took part in the Eurupean Council Landscape Prize. The Application was presented thanks to the Borca di Cadore Municipality, who has been supporting Progettoborca ever since its inception.

Taking part in the Award is an integral part of DC’s design, which always works towards the expansion of its action, of the reflection which, ever since 2011, is conducted in the scope of regeneration and upkeep of Lanscape and Heritage through the tools of contemporary art, of innovation culture, and of involved networks, always keeping at the core of its practice a re-innovative and regenerative vision for the territory, and for its praxis itself.

The 2016/2017 edition of the Award.

The Commission established by the Ministry, chaired by Fabio De Chirico, General Director for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Outskirts, of MiBACT is comprised of individuals known for their efforts in cultural and landscape-related areas: Paolo Pejrone, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, Marino Sinibaldi, Andrea Sisti, Carlo Tosco, Pietro Valentino.
On the basis of the actions deployed, and with regards to the objectives reached in the requalification of locations through the promotion of all historical and cultural materials and non-materials which characterise them, and considering the results obtained in terms of sustainable economic development and civil, as well as cultural, growth of local communities, the Commission has pinpointed 38 projects of particular interest.
The winning project was Agri Gentium: Iandscape regeneration.
17 other projects have received a Mention, and among them is Progettoborca, with a thematic Mention.

Following is the Mention by MiBACT, which was granted to Dolomiti Contemporanee during a Ceremony which took place in Rome, at the Ministry, on March 14th, 2017, at the presence of President Mattarella and of Minister Franceschini:

Dolomiti Contemporanee – Progettoborca
Mention: Landscape promotion through contemporary art and architecture

It is our great pleasure, as well as thank you for having taken part in the Call being discussed, to let you know that the Commission established for the purposes of evaluating the projects selected in light of the Italian applications to the 2016-2017 Europen Council Landscape Award, has unanimously manifested a keen interest for the “Landscape promotion through contemporary art and culture”, thought to be worthy of Mention for the Promotion of landscape through contemporary and and culture.

In particular, it was found exemplary for the strategy it implemented in the recovery efforts directed towards the former Eni Village of Borca di Cadore, an extraordinary example of architecture and company welfare built in the 1950s, open to the public and transformed into a cultural superhub: a centre for cultural, conceptual, creative and productive research and experimentation.

The Summer Camp by H-CAMPUS inside the former Eni Village of Borca di Cadore from the […]

The Summer Camp by H-CAMPUS inside the former Eni Village of Borca di Cadore from the 8th to the 20th of August 2016. Part of the available spots are reserved for people coming from the Cadore and Belluno areas.

H-Campus di H-Farm at the Village

Two weeks surrounded by the woods of the Dolomites to mix art, nature and digital, among 3D printers, high tech scavenger hunts and design thinking.

This summer H-CAMPUS raises in altitude thanks to the collaboration with Dolomiti Contemporanee e Minoter, inside Progettoborca, carrying out a Dolomites Digital Camp in Borca di Cadore: an experience of digital labs in environment, among nature, art and design.

H-CAMPUS is the innovative educational training project for kids and young adults developed by H-Farm, the platform of digital innovation and startup incubator launched in 2005 by Riccardo Donadon.

This edition of the H-CAMPUS Digital Camp takes advantage of H-FARM’s experience in the educational training of the youngest: with this sixth edition approaching, the program offered has been extended to cover the whole summer (from June the 13th to September the 2nd) and giving to more than a thousand kids and young adults the possibility to experience this unique event.

Through its partnership with Dolomiti Contemporanee, H-CAMPUS will take place outside the historic headquarters of Cà Tron in Roncade: this time, the immersion will, in fact, occur, in the exceptional environmental context of Belluno’s Dolomites.

Here, in 2014, Dolomiti Contemporanee and Minoter have launched Progettoborca, an articulate regenerative platform operating for the cultural enchancement and the functional regeneration of this site, which is so important and meaningful.

And in this very site, to this day representing a unique case of social and business vision and culture, DC and H-FARM, two different projects with an outlook towards innovation, research and concrete projective vision in common, have decided to begin a meaningful collaboration, through the H-CAMPUS labs.

Dolomiti Digital Camp

During the second and third weeks of August, the Dolomiti Digital Camp will find home in the structures of the former ENI Village of Borca di Cadore.

Taking advantage of the environmental and artistic splendour of the site, the kids involved will be able to seize some spaces inside the Village and to re-think them thanks to the digital labs, to the tools of thinking design and to the workshops with the artists taking part in the project.

The kids will be supported by the teachers and tutors of H-CAMPUS, to bring them closer to a new way of exploring and enhancing the location they’re in through geocaching activities, a treasure hunt 3.0, where the GPS replaces written notes. They will get in contact with the artists currently in-residence who will be involved in the workshop, to stimulate their creativity and expressive abilities through tinkering, bringing forgotten and recovered objects back to life. They will discover how nature and digital can get in touch: moulding and scanning in 3Dimensions; learning to use simple electronic components (LittleBits) able to connect the physical and virtual world; using Minecraft to bring the Village inside the popular videogame.

It is possible to completely immerse oneself in the adventure of the Dolomiti Digital Camp stying overnight in the structures of the former Eni VIllage, but also to choose the day option, getting there in the morning to attend the labs and then go back home for the night. That is because a quota of the available spots is reserved for the people living close by.

For more info on the Digital Summer Camps program, and on the two weeks of Dolomites Digital Camp please refer to the site www.h-campus.com or write an e-mail to the following address: camp@h-campus.com

During the weekend of December the 11th-12th, the Polytechnic University of Milan returns to the Colonia (Eng.: summer camp building) of the Village, with the Interior Design and Preservation Studio.

Milan Polytechnic University, Civil Architecture School, Master Degree
INTERIOR DESIGN AND PRESERVATION STUDIO 2

The experience of the Lab aims to be, first and foremost, training for the outlook, learning to observe and listen, in a new way, what surrounds us.
It is an approach and premise necessary to preserve and enhance the heritage of the Modern.
The challenge that we set for ourselves is to try and think of the Eni Village not as a cumbersome restriction, but rather as an (architectural, spatial, economical, social…) opportunity.
And then, examining the history of Gellner’s architecture, touching and studying its (often innovative and experimental) materials and the building techniques means understanding the actual possibilities of preservation and upkeep.
The objective is to enhance the existing, through its conscious transformation, which necessarily becomes an architectural project.

Professors Stefania Varvaro and Rossana Gabaglio

Tutors:
Francesca Zaffaroni, Ileana Croci, Annalisa Desole, Lorenzo Lanzani, Federico Silini, Manuel Clasadonte

Sunday August the 17th the French anthropologist Marc Augé will come to Forni di Sopra (Udine), to talk about the contemporary landscape, in an open dialogue with Gianluca D’Incà levis, curator of Dolomiti Contemporanee.
The event is promoted by the Udine Province.
Forni di Sopra is one of the heart-municipalities of the Natural Park of the Friulan Dolomites.

On Sunday the 17th of August, Dolomiti Contemporanee curates Paesaggi Contemporanei (i.e.: Contemporary Landscapes), a day dedicated to public meetings and reflections on the contemporary landscape. The event is going to take place on the Forni di Sopra Municipality (Udine).

The day’s schedule involves a round table in the morning, and a meeting in the afternoon with the French anthropologist Marc Augé.

The morning’s guests and speakers will discuss together about today’s mountain and its potentialities, analyzing it from different perspectives.
Among the themes that will be tackled, there are the environmental aspects, the physical, social and economical landscapes, management and enterprise, art and cultural innovation, to then get to the anthropological analysis with Marc Augé, exceptional guest, already part of the jury of the international artistic contest two calls for vajont. A series of overlooks, suggestions, reflections on a non-nostalgic or contemplative mountain, on the contemporary mountain, which is alive, and can be an innovative drive.

The event is promoted by the Udine Province, and is hosted by Dolomiti Contemporanee in partnership with the Forni di Sopra Municipality, and in collaboration with the Autonomous Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation, the Natural Park of the Friulan Dolomites, and Turismo FVG.

The human is the territory: anthropology of the places, conversation
Conversation between Marc Augé, anthropologist, and Gianluca D’Incà Levis, curator of Dolomiti Contemporanee. The well-known anthropologist Marc Augé will deal with various themes linked to the contemporary landscape, like the human as the manufacturer of the landscape, the anthropology of places, memory and presence, time without age.

Marc Augé is a French sociologist, anthropologist and ethnologist, well-known on an international level. Born in 1935 in Poiteirs, he became renown on a worldwide level for his anthropological research on Western societies. He’s been head of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales of Paris.

Il Dolomites Unesco Lab Fest is a multidisciplinar lab-festival promoted by the Unesco Dolomites Foundation for the summer 2014.
The lab-fest is presented in a very much experimental dimension in which the Dolomites are a nexus for meeting, confrontation and dialogue among the people of these mountains.

The zero edition is dedicated to the theme of the mowing (Ita: sfalcio).
The mowing, both a current and ancient theme, is the occasion to talk about the protection of the landscape, of tourism, agricolture, pasture, tradition, depopulation and return to the earth, doing it in a completely innovative way. The mowing, in the Dolomites Unesco Lab Fest, let itself be interpreted in a creative and contemporary manner, giving back a different mountain; non a stereotype, but something lively and riveting.

A crowdfounding campaign allows anyone to contribute to the realisation of the festival.
